As I started walking down the boarding tunnel towards a Qatar Airways Flight heading to Doha, I really didn’t know what to expect. I had never used Qatar before and I was curious, especially because I know they’ve won a lot of awards but my return ticket from Nairobi to Atlanta only cost USD $840! So I guess I was expecting to be sitting next to luggage for that price?
As I entered the plane I was greeted warmly by a beautiful air hostess who directed me to my seat and as I settled in, there was surprisingly what felt like more leg room? (for tall people out there, you know the struggle is real).
All in all, what won my heart was the service. I felt so welcomed and the air hostess kept checking on me since I don’t normally eat on planes (don’t know why.. I just loose appetite). So they would pass and ask “are you sure you don’t want anything, can I get you tea? Or anything else to drink?”
I have used other airlines and unless I am sitting in business, I have never been checked on so much in Economy and I was happy to finally see the same service given no matter how much you have paid.
I loved the whole flight experience and it was the same from Doha to Atlanta (showing me I wasn’t just lucky on one flight).
Despite the Airport at Doha being very clear with direction for travellers, I felt it lacked food convenience. If you are just hopping from one flight to another it would be fine, but I didn’t feel like there was enough to cater for those that need to hang out somewhere and eat cheap food and watch movies. A lot of the restaurants I walked past looked intimidating to walk in for a quick meal (way too fancy- especially for an airport setting). If there was anything else, I definitely didn’t see it, I thought I walked around enough but maybe I just didn’t venture far enough? But I don’t see why there isn’t that factor of convenience for those that don’t want to walk to the other side of the airport?
