As time passes by, then comes all the “Eat, Pray, Love” moments. Searching for the reason why we’re put on this earth, trying to be happier, healthier people and all that jazz…
I can’t speak for everyone but I’ve definitely gone through this, time and time again! My first life challenging moment was at the age of 21 when my mom passed away. I was lost. I remember sitting at an executive government job not knowing why I’m there? I was angry and confused, my life felt like it was just smoke and mirrors.
If you’ve ever lost a mother we can relate on a certain level, my world disappeared… I found myself alone and unsure, but being brought up by a strong African single mother is what brought me through the darkness. All her lessons and words of inspiration come to me every day and that’s something I cherish and hold on to.
6 months later I decided to stop doing what doesn’t bring me joy. I guess that’s when you go through the moment of; life is too short, and is this what I want to be remembered for?
I’m sure you’ve already guessed it, I then decided to quit my job and I’ve never looked back. I had to learn the skill of running a fashion store and everything that comes with the territory but I find everyday a challenge that yes brings its own stresses but also brings me joy as I am truly passionate about what I do.
As I began to travel more to broaden my experiences and knowledge, I found myself unknowingly on a path of truly learning how to love my strengths and weaknesses. I guess you can say I learnt who I am by throwing myself into different situations.
Ok sorry, my Dr Phil moment is done…
